I think this is the last of them. Thanks for not defriending me.
In Baddeck, Nova Scotia... taken at Bras d'Or Lake.

We went to a quilt show!

Baddeck - Quilt Show

[info]tvor saw this photo on my Flickr and was inspired to paint this painting! Isn't that lovely? I was very flattered.

Baddeck - Shoreline

I loved this weirdo lake weed:

Pretty, deadly lupins:

Baddeck - One white lupin

Baddeck - Stones and Shells

It was a perfectly grey day.

Do you tweak your photos for color vibrancy? Because they are ALL SO GORGEOUS.

Grey days near water are the best things that ever happened. I love them so, so much.

I do play with the levels, mostly contrast which makes colours pop a bit! It's super fun.

On this day in Baddeck, it was almost impossible to tell where the water ended and the sky began. Awesome.

I love your photos. I would never defriend you for it! I really love the quilt photo. It's gorgeous, but I'm partial to quilts.

Thanks so much! It was a lovely show... lots of the artists were there to talk to, and most of those quilts were handmade. It was almost impossible to get a good photo of it, but this quilt was one of my favourites:

All of that red curlicue stuff is actually tiny cross stitch! It must have taken forever.

I WANT TO TOUCH THE QUILTS.

They're so pretty and neat and colorful and I just want to roll around in them like a dog rolls in the grass. This just shows how much I missed quilting and I'm so glad I'm getting back into it now.

I wanted to touch them, too! But it's quite frowned upon at quilt shows. You get the old lady gaze of steel.

I really miss quilting when I'm away from it for any length of time. Sometimes when I sit down at my desk at work, my foot automatically reaches out for the pedal! Ha ha ha.

Thanks! :) The only negative thing about hanging out with [info]brantastic was that we took pictures of a lot of the same things, and hers were consistently eight notches better than mine. :)

Wonderful photos, and how cool that one of them inspired a painting!

I love how wildly colorful the photo of the quilt show is, it's yumminess for the eyes...

I know... I totally drooled when I walked into that church! And how often does that happen? If there's not a handsome priest at the pulpit, I mean?

The quilts are beautiful. I really did love all your pics. We're heading to the Trail this September so i'm hoping to see some of the places you did. Scarecrow!!

I'll look forward to your pics! I'm going to try to go back in September, as well... I really want to go up there in the fall.

Oh, you've heard it already, but your pictures are beautiful. What camera are you using? You've got a good eye, too. Love them. I would love to have that gray one as a print.

And those quilts are beautiful. There's something so comforting about the everyday beauty of life, isn't there? And the skill that women have had for centuries to turn even utilitarian objects (blankets for warmth) into works of art and celebrations of life. I would love to make a quilt like that. I made a very simple one once, before I went to college. Black and white checks, and I don't think I even quilted the top. But it was the warmest blanket I had.

I hope your dad is doing okay. I'm really looking forward to meeting you, and his appointment falls during the week I'll be around. Of course, I'd understand if you didn't have the time, but I'm crossing my fingers that everything will be well (and not just for my own selfish reasons). It's sort of exciting to think about meeting someone I already feel like I know so well and have much in common with - like a date, without all the boy-girl anxiety. And I'm DEFINITELY bringing fat quarters. Maybe you can point me to a nice yarn store in Halifax.

Rambling!

I just finished sewing a messenger bag. I'll take a picture of it to get in on the craft sharing...

I'm using my Canon Rebel XT which I HEART. Thank you! I don't have that good of an eye naturally but I am trying to develop it.

I'm sure I'll be available to meet up with you for an afternoon while you're here! We'll have a fat quarter exchange (do you have a big stash to choose from? I have a boatload. How many should we swap? We should be even.) We can also go to The Loop, which is pretty close to the waterfront where I assume you'll be staying, or we can mosey up to LK Yarns which would be a bit of a hike, but we could do it.

Messenger bag! Where is it?

Where at on the Lakes?

The lakes are pretty much all of central Cape Breton, but to me that looks like something youw ould find either in Big Pond or Big Bras D'or.

I want them all. Can you imagine all of the labourous hours they have in that room?

This was right on Baddeck Bay.

There would be tens of thousands of hours of work in those quilts!
