S.O.S, Paypal users!

I just sold two items on eBay. Both of the buyers have paid me through Paypal. Buyer A's payment has not yet cleared, and Paypal tells me I am ineligible for Paypal's "Seller's Protection Policy" on that purchase. Buyer B's payment HAS cleared, and I AM eligible for the seller's protection.

Does anyone know if the reason I'm not eligible for protection is simply because Buyer A's payment hasn't cleared yet? Will that status change once the payment goes through? I can't find an answer in the FAQ.

Does the buyer's address say confirmed or unconfirmed? If you ship to an "unconfirmed" address you are not eligible for the Seller Protection Policy (because someone could be illegally using someone's paypal account and having the goods shipped to some PO Box or other address not associated with the account, so Paypal won't protect the seller in that case, meaning that the buyer could claim they didn't make the purchase and they'd be refunded, and you'd be out your merchandise. However, this doesn't happen super often, usually it's just a work address or somewhere that they're on vacation or whatever so it's not attached to the paypal account. I wouldn't worry.)

Thanks, B... it does say unconfirmed. That explains it... I see that he's having them sent to someone else. It's a big purchase, so I'd feel a hell of a lot more comfortable sending them to him directly. Do you know if it's possible for him to change that information now that the transaction's already done? Probably not, huh?

Nope, once the transaction has been completed, there is no way to change it, unless you refund the payment and tell him to re-pay using a confirmed address.

I have been selling on ebay for eight solid years and can assure you that "sellers protection" does not mean anything. You don't need to worry about it. You just wait for their payment to clear, then send the item.
