Q. What do I love more than old, abandoned buildings?
A. NOTHING.

In Cheticamp, we found these old garages by the roadside. We investigated, obvz.

Yeah, hanging out with Bran made me realize that I just need to TAKE my camera around with me. It's hard to get into that mindset, though... in my heart, I'm like my parents, whipping it out on birthdays.

Maybe I will! I wouldn't exactly call it urban, though, and I see that the members of that community are pretty fucking picky about rural vs. urban.

Two more things:

1 - Old abandoned garages = NOS car parts and old tools, *swoon*... And if you run across any with pre-1963 cars, let me know, fresh barn finds are harder and harder to find...

2 - What kind of camera do you have or are you editing color a little? I love the way the color has come out on all your pics!

As if I would know a pre-1963 car if I saw one!

I'm editing these photos a bit, but these ones didn't need much... the garage had been very brightly painted! My camera is a Canon Rebel XTI.

I love that blue door, too. I wonder what made them paint it like that?

Okay, why do abondoned places always look like someone just got up one day and was like "yep, that's it for this place" and leaves? They don't put anything away, they don't take their belongings, they don't empyty the ashtray..They just kind of leave.

It creeps me out.
Mind you, they probably are just shut down for fishing season, ha ha ha.

I know, I'm always surprised that things look like they were in the middle of their day when they got up and left for thirty-five years. So weird.

God, I love your photos SO MUCH there are no words. You capture Cape Breton SO well. Such a phenomenally gorgeous place...just another reason I wish I lived in Halifax, so I could travel all over NS.
